Thinking positive thoughts for the planet—a happy choice is a local choice, and that’s the direction I’m going in. Hope you’ll come along!

In the Feb 6 Twenty Bag: Curly and Toscano kale mix, Danvers carrots, Red Leaf lettuce, celery, baby beets, spinach, Brussels sprouts, Honey Mandarins from Jonina Farms, South Georgia.

Thank you Harleston Towles and Rooting Down Farms!

So happy to have a source for citrus, all of which has been outstanding this season. Great partnering with a fellow farmer!

A quick search of sweetgrass + grits will take you to plenty more recipes—all curated with an eye toward the weekly Twenty Bag harvest.

Harleston’s storage tips: If greens or herbs of any kind begin to wilt at any point or at pick up, put them in a big bowl of ice water for 20-30 minutes.  Almost all produce is washed and should go in the refrigerator. Remove tops from carrots and beets immediately upon receipt of bag.  Beet greens can be eaten, tops on carrots at this point are compost.  Kale, lettuce, celery, beet tops, and brussel sprouts should all go in a plastic bag of sorts to retain moisture.  Citrus preferably in fridge.  Spinach can stay in it's bag.
