Twenty Bag | Feb 1
In the February 1 Twenty Bag: Spinach, cauliflower, sprouting broccoli, South Georgia/North Florida Mandarins, flat leaf parsley, fennel, arugula, rainbow carrots.
Thank you Harleston Towles and Rooting Down Farms!
Harleston was so right—the Sumo oranges he added to the January 25 Bag were amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted an orange with that level of flavor and sweet/ citrusy balance.
The sunny flavors in this Melted Fennel Pasta dish take me back to travels along the Mediterranean coast. The delicate anise profile of the fennel is reduced to its sweetest element and is brightened by a generous squeeze of lemon and grated zest.

Harleston’s storage tips: If greens of any kind begin to wilt at any point or at pick up, put them in a big bowl of ice water for 20-30 minutes. Almost all produce is washed and should go in the refrigerator. Spinach and arugula can stay in their respective bags. Cauliflower, broccoli, oranges, parsley, and fennel should all go in a plastic bag of sorts. Remove carrot tops and store in a plastic bag for 1-2 months.
