Thinking positive thoughts for the planet—a happy choice is a local choice, and that’s the direction I’m going in. Hope you’ll come along!

In the November 22 Twenty Bag: Collards, cauliflower, lettuce mix, celery, sage, thyme, squash, zucchini, broccolini, sweet potatoes.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m especially grateful to Harleston Towles and Rooting Down Farm for their hard work and all they bring to our tables.

After all the holiday cooking and celebrating, I’m going in heavy on soups. And with the plummeting temps, nothing could be more welcome, in my opinion.

Creamy cauliflower and creamy celery are two of my favorite soup recipes and super easy to throw together.

For more ideas, a quick search of sweetgrass + grits will take you to plenty more recipes—all curated with an eye toward the weekly Twenty Bag harvest.

Harleston’s storage tips: If greens of any kind begin to wilt at any point or at pick up, put them in a big bowl of ice water for 20-30 minutes.  Almost all produce is washed and should go in the refrigerator. Everything in the fridge except for sweet potatoes.  They can go on the counter or in a cool dark place.
