Lowcountry ecoLiving

Simple. Earth Friendly. Solutions.

When I joined my Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program in 2020, I was so happy to be doing something to buck the big-box, big-ag system. I’d found a way to shift my dollars to the local farm community—the folks who work the farms and also the local restaurants that source from them. And when you grab a bagful from a CSA, you’re getting the best produce the planet has to offer, within a few miles of home—not a few thousand.

Restaurants doing the farm to plate thing

Restaurants* I’ve written about and tagged with the Fresh on the Menu logo use at least 25% locally sourced ingredients and are certified by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.

*Many more kitchens qualify, but haven’t yet applied for certification.

Look for the state’s Certified SC Grown logo on products at Whole Foods, Harris Teeter, Earth Fare and other local markets.
