The Twenty Bag

I chose The Twenty Bag after reviewing a list of Lowcountry Community Supported Agriculture groups published by the Charleston City Paper. There are quite a few CSAs across South Carolina, and they are all great—each with its own specific list of products and price points.

Based on Edisto Island, S.C., farmer Harleston Towles’ Twenty Bag model has flexibility for customers who prefer to opt in or out of the weekly bag as they wish. Many CSAs require that you contract for a several-week season. It’s an investment that truly supports those farms, but if you are unable to use the product coming into your kitchen every week, well, it’s not a very sustainable way to go.

The bag drops on Mondays, bearing just-picked organic goodies and sometimes a surprise (like eggs from Lowland Farms) for my kitchen. I love the convenience, and cooking has become more of an adventure, thanks to the seasonality of each bag’s selection. Hop to My Twenty Bag to see what the season’s eats are—and what to do with them!
