Lowcountry ecoLiving

Simple. Earth Friendly. Solutions.

When I joined a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program during the pandemic, I was excited to be doing something to buck the big-box, big-ag system. I’d found a way to shift my dollars to the local community—Charleston region farmers and also the local restaurants that source from them. And when you grab a bag from a CSA, or a table at a Certified SC eatery, you’re supporting your neighbors, and getting the best produce the planet has to offer, within a few miles of home—not a few thousand.

Restaurants* I’ve written about and tagged with the Fresh on the Menu logo use at least 25% locally sourced ingredients and are certified by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.

*Many more kitchens qualify, but haven’t yet applied for certification.

Look for the state’s Certified SC Grown logo on products at Whole Foods, Harris Teeter, Earth Fare and other local markets.
